truth and love

This morning there was a lecture given by Bishop Luis Tagle, a Filipino priest who spoke about the meaning of love and truth……He said as St. Paul had believed and we too must that love and truth should come together…..We always say we wanted the TRUTH to rule our lives but sometimes “truth” is given to us so brutally or violently….it is without love…..Bishop Tagle said sometimes people would use truth to blackmail other people…..Some of us would tell our deepest secrets or some truths about us to other people or our friends, and in time what do we get?….They will use the “truth” to blackmail us when we’re no longer friends, when they do not agree with us anymore,…..and that is not the “truth” that Jesus wants us to believe…..Even politicians use this “truth’ to blackmail their opponents on such election campaigns…. They do not tell the truth to correct some falsehood rather use the truth for their own advantage…..Which is why we should only focus on the TRUTH that Jesus wants us to believe…..It is TRUTH that goes with LOVE…..A truth that never blackmails…..A truth that is JUST…..A truth that rejoices with LOVE….

My personal strength

Well until now I’m still trying to become a better person….there are so many temptations , failures etc. around us…..but I always end up going back to the Father….You have to go back to Him coz He is like a big big rock who would shield you from sufferings or hurts….There was a time when I had no decision at all…..Yes, I can do it all by myself….I am a strong person period…. I realized I had to change that….and take the side of truth…. I can’t be strong without God’s help…..that I’m stronger when I side with Him…..so I find my personal strength by siding with the truth….

The Other Side Of Things

Sometimes what we see is not always the real thing….we should seek deeper to see the other side of things….

Have you seen the documentary “The Other Side of Beijing” wherein they showed some parts of China which are found just near the prestigious site where the Olympics was held,  and considered as some of the poorest places they have in their country….If you happen to visit the other side of the glamorous Olympic’s site….you would enter into those shanties which seem like the squatters area we can see in Tondo, Manila in the Philippines….It reminds me too that we cannot really say that we are a super powerful country just because we could host the Olympics…..if some of our people suffer from poverty…Don’t you think so?….

This is happening too in my country as well….I remember way back in the 80’s when we hosted an International Film Festival in Manila…They had to rush things to finish the construction of a Film Center but then something happened to this site as it crashed and some workers were trapped inside yet were still alive…but then Imelda Marcos  who was the first lady then forced the workers to continue with the construction disregarding those who were still alive in the crashed site….And until now every time we host some ASEAN meetings they had to relocate shanties who could be a not so pleasing view to be caught by the eyes of foreign visitors….Isn’t it a shame?….I don’t know why we have to hide the truth…..sometimes I am guilty of this too….We can’t humble ourselves….we are so afraid that we might not be accepted for who we are….I hope we could really face the truth and be proud of who we really are….
